Child, suffer yourself
Unto me in darkness,
Your body carved into a temple.
Your hand of glory engulfed in flames,
And I, your thief in the night.
Hear me, Goddess!
Lady of Sickness!
She who has called me forth!
Serve me!
My burning flesh
Has turned to ashes
In a sacrament of agony!
*Pained Scream*
I hold my flesh to fire
You burn yourself in my name.
The gathering ash, the dust of my birth
Consume now your body to show your devotion
Through you I shall cry out
From your body I shall venture forth
Your smoldered skin sanctifies my throne
Accept this suffering
And here, your sacrifice made a lone
Through pain I am pure!
Now sing to me, the defi ling one
You! Goddess of truth!
And in the darkness we blind the son
Oh, beautiful Ash!

Surreal does not even properly convey the emotion and utmost perfection of this work. A combination of both polarizing beauty and harshness, Kardashev continues to embark on defining the boundaries of the melodic, progressive death scene. djc062001

As someone who went backwards through Kardashev’s discography, I was surprised to see how effortlessly they leverage brutality in those older releases. Alice M.

I saw these gents open the evening for DWeF in Trier some weeks ago. The vocalist seemed terribly shy between songs and then went full-on beastmode on the vocals again; him overcoming this was one of the most metal things I have ever seen. Vi Overlevde is, excuse this, bizarrely good. Not too posty, but still with a remarkable edge and a pretty unique feel to it. Maybe I'm still carried away by the live performance, but alas! This is great. Ensomhet is... beyond words. Kom til meg! David Fischer
